Solid is a new suite of web standards that allows individuals and organisations to house data in decentralised data stores, called Pods.
"Solid is a vital third layer of the web"
Sir Tim Berners-Lee
Inventor of the Web
Creator of the Solid standards
Pods are like digital wallets for any type of data. When data is stored in a Pod, its owner controls which individuals, organisations and applications can access it.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, created Solid as the foundation for a holistic update. The aim is to empower a new generation of data control and interoperability for all internet users, in turn igniting a new era of web-scale innovation, opportunity and shared benefits.
